Today....Sequels

In Scene & Structure, Bickham uses the term sequel to describe what takes place between scenes.

Here the character gets to go through a cycle of emotion, thought, and decision which leads up to a new goal and action plan for the character.

With the new goal in place, mix in a character to oppose the character's actions - and you're on your way to the next scene.

Sounds much easier than it is, doesn't it? *sigh*

With romance - the sequels, I'm guessing, will be as big if not bigger than the scenes most of the time.

In fact, I think--looking back at the scenes I plotted out on the index cards--I suspect what I covered would probably work better as sequels and not scenes themselves.
